DAEMON Tools Lite is a truncated version of the program. It lacks many useful functions. But the main opportunities for working with images and virtual disks remained. This version of the software is completely free for use, without a trial period.
Image Interaction
The program provides for three main types of interaction with virtual disks: their mounting, unmounting, as well as taking copies. The article will discuss each of them.
Mounting
First of all, you should deal with how to mount the image in DAEMON Tools Lite. This is done in the upper tab of the application. Click on the empty PCM location and select the first item.
Indicate the location of the file with the recorded copy of the disk. Next, right-click on the new item and click “Month”. There is a simpler option. Below there is a region of virtual drives. Click on the tile “Quick mount”.
And then add a new file for the right extension (ISO, MDX, and so on).
Unmounting
In total, four virtual drives are available in DT Lite. Therefore, when using the program, the user may need a unmount function. The article will also consider it. If the emulated drive is added to the system, then it will be displayed from the bottom of the program window. And it doesn’t matter if it is empty or with content. Click on it PCM and select the option “Unmount”.Then the image will be untied from the drive. There is also an item in the context menu “Delete”. It completely removes the virtual drive from the computer. Also, all operations can be performed from the first tab of the application. Mounted images are displayed there. Right-click on the desired one and select the deactivation option.
Creation
There is a way to create a disk image in DAEMON Tools Lite. The corresponding function is called from the second vertical tab of the program. The disk icon is still drawn on it.
In the column “Drive” you must specify the label of the physical drive from which the recording will go. Next, click on the button “Review…”, set the path to the future image, as well as its name.
In the next column, you must set the file format. Usually used by ISO and MDX. You can still select MDS. Then you can activate the protection of the copy of the disk with a password, as well as enable compression. Then go to the menu “Advanced Settings”. Here you can set the media breakdown into several images, the size of which does not exceed a certain value. There is also process speed control. But usually it is locked. When you configure all the proposed parameters in accordance with the situation, click on “Start”. The creation procedure will start directly.
When it comes to an end, a button will appear under the log window “OK”. If you press it, then this window will be closed.
