In its new smartphone Axon 40 Ultra, ZTE makes the front camera invisible. Sales in Germany will start in June.
The Chinese one Manufacturer ZTE will be selling its new cell phone Axon 40 Ultra in Germany from June 21st. The smartphone has a selfie camera that sits below the display and cannot be seen during normal use. ZTE charges 800 euros for the mobile phone.
Experimented with such solutions for the selfie camera ZTE for years, other Chinese manufacturers such as Oppo and Xiaomi are also working on Under -Display cameras. So far the experience with the ‘invisible’ Cameras are compromised: The display section under which the camera is located can be clearly seen as blurry in some cell phones. In addition, the photo quality could not usually keep up with conventional solutions such as the display notch.
Recently, cameras located under the display have become better, on the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4, the resolution of the display section with the camera is about as high as that of the rest of the display. ZTE does not make any explicit statements about this, but promises a “flawless” screen. It is 6.8 inches tall, based on AMOLED technology and has a resolution of 2480 x 1116 pixels. ZTE specifies the peak brightness as 1500 nits, the maximum refresh rate is 120 Hz.
Triple camera on the back
The front camera located under the display shoots photos with 16 megapixels. The three cameras on the back of the device have more power: All three sensors (main camera, ultra wide angle and telephoto camera) have a resolution of 64 megapixels. ZTE relies on Sony’s IMX787 sensor for the main camera and the ultra wide-angle camera.
The battery capacity of the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra is said to be 5000 mAh, and it is charged with up to 65 watts. The technical heart is the Qualcomm top model Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 with 5G support. The RAM differs depending on the version: The version for 800 euros offers 8 GB and 128 GB flash memory, for 150 euros more there is the version with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage space.
The ZTE Axon 40 At the market launch in Europe, Ultra runs with Google’s current Android 12 operating system. The Chinese manufacturer does not provide any information on how long new Android functions and security updates will be delivered.
