Apple has in Another update for iOS 15 was made available for download on Thursday night. This time, however, only two model series are affected that will receive the new iOS 15.1.1: iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 in all variants – i.e. iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. If the call suddenly drops
According to the manufacturer, the update is used to update the " “Call Drop Performance”, i.e. the behavior of the devices in the event of poor telephony reception. Users who were previously confronted with unwanted or unintelligible phone calls should see an improvement. It was initially unclear whether there were any further additions to the update – Apple’s package insert only mentions the telephony function.
5G model for the first time from iPhone 12
Why the update only for iPhone 12 and 13 is available is easy to explain: both model series are the first with 5G support. Apparently Apple is still working on the modem firmware here – or at least the interaction of the operating system with it. Security-related improvements should not be in iOS 15.1.1.
Really nothing security-related?
According to Apple’s list of security updates contains the update “no released CVE IDs”. However, that doesn’t have to mean anything – in some cases the company only submits them later, although this is usually not the case in the list.
