Due to a vulnerability in Trend Micro Maximum Security attackers could attack Windows computers. A fixed version is available for download.

The vulnerability (CVE-2022-34893 “high“) affects Trend Micro Maximum Security up to and including version 17.7.1179 on Windows. In a warning message, the developers are making a hotfix available for download to close the vulnerability.

Those who do not update the AV application run the risk of attackers manipulating mount points and thereby gaining higher user rights. What attacks could look like in detail is not yet known. Trend Micro assures that there are no indications of attacks at this time.
